THANK YOU MOTHER
Where are
the children
Where have
they gone
The neighborhoods
are empty
Something must
be wrong
For I
remember so well
We even
played in the
street
A neighborhood
fill with laughter
And all
those little feet
All the
mothers kept watch
Either yours
or theirs
You just
knew if you
got hurt
There was
someone who cares
Now the
neighborhood is silent
For the
careers must come
first
The children
are all in
day care
Is that the
mother’s curse
I’ll thank
you mother
For we
were first in
your life
You were
so proud of
your career
As mother
and wife
The wise woman builds her house, But the
Foolish pulls it down with her hands.
